Below is a guide explaining all of the events within the BC PTF and how to register into them. This is a massive event with lots of moving parts for your students and teachers to participate in.
We need your final registration completed by February 15th including on the main site and for any other needed google form supplemental registration materials (OPENING CEREMONY AUDITIONS, SCHOLARSHIP AUDITIONS, STUDENT LEADERSHIP (PTO) SELECTION).
A reminder for schools that have never attended BC PTF before we are allowing your first 4 students to register for free!!
You do not need to currently be an EdTA Thespian Troupe to participate at our event - we encourage you to see just how great this event is & how supportive our community is.
2023 BC Provincial Thespian Festival - Registration Guide: Please complete registration by February 15th 2023. Late entries will not be accepted. Please make sure that your student shirt sizes in our registration system are correct. Here is the link to the main registration site: canada.cothespians.net and then below certain elements have additional google forms to complete… Chapter Select One Act Plays - Step 1 – Review Chapter Select One-Act Guidelines Online (you do not need to "win" anything to perform your play): https://www.bcthespians.ca/chapter-select-one-act-plays-sponsored-by-nycda.html Step 2 - Register online before Feb 15th – All students in your cast and crew need to be enrolled in the festival in order to participate in the production. Step 3 – Provide detailed info on the google form before Feb 15th. Opening Ceremony Auditions – For students that won a blue ribbon at regionals and are interested in representing their school/troupe on the BC PTF Opening Ceremonies Mainstage please have them complete the following google form: https://forms.gle/svmk23fFPitkuqpAA They need to apply by Feb 15th and also be enrolling in the festival! Schedule will be sent to you one week before the event.
PTO Selection Application – For students interested in representing their school/troupe on the Provincial Thespian Officers please have them complete the following google form: https://forms.gle/NpiK6sibpBRcemqm8 Schedule will be sent to the students that applied for PTO one week before the event.
Scholarship Auditions – This is open for grade 12 and 11 students looking to continue their journey in acting, musical theatre, directing, film, teaching drama, etc. Students can apply here: https://forms.gle/op32XkqTRZTHEDeK9 They need to apply by Feb 15th and also be enrolling in the festival! Schedule will be sent to you one week before the event.

Musical Theatre and Devised Theatre Intensives – · Each school can register up to 2 students in the Devised Theatre Intensive and 3 students in the Musical Theatre Intensive. Students in these intensives will focus all four of their workshops on this area with their intensive leader. Then they will work on and produce an BC Select All-Province Musical Number and Devised Theatre Number for closing ceremonies. Your students can be registered for these programs through our main registration system.
Tech Olympics – · This is scheduled for the two workshops on SATURDAY for students interested in tech theatre. No experience is required for students to participate and learn about tech theatre. All workshop sessions will have options for the students that are interested in tech theatre and design. It is included in the workshop schedule. Sign up for this when you register.
Pro-D Sign-Up – · If you happen to have $50 left in your pro-d account/reimbursement, we are asking for you to register and pay for that here: https://EdTACanada.regfox.com/bc-thespians-teacher-pro-d-registration · You will get a receipt that can be submitted for reimbursement after the event as per your district/school guidelines.

Teacher Appreciation Lounge - All Weekend – · We will have a teachers lounge with non-alcoholic drinks and snacks all weekend.
Teacher Appreciation Lunch – SUNDAY · We will have a teachers appreciation lunch at Douglas College on Sunday Feb 26th from 11:35am to 1:30pm – all teachers are welcome and encouraged to join us at the Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch on us.

Thespys – Qualifying Students NEED to be registered again in our system during the registration process GUIDELINES FOR PROVINCIAL THESPIAN ENTRIES:
WHO IS ELIGIBLE? 1. Any student who received EITHER a YELLOW OR BLUE ribbon at one of the 5 Regional Festivals during November/December 2022, is eligible to perform a Thespy piece at Provincials so long as: a. It is in the same category that received the ribbon AND b. It is performed with the same partner(s)/ensemble as was awarded the ribbon. WHAT PIECE DO THEY PERFORM? 1. Students who achieved a YELLOW adjudication at Regionals, must perform the SAME PIECE as they performed at Regionals (same song/same scene), with the same partners/ensemble 2. Students who achieved a BLUE adjudication at Regionals, have the option to perform EITHER the same piece as regionals, OR new piece, so long as it is performed with the same partner(s)/ensemble. *** (EXAMPLE) *** - BOB and JOE win a BLUE ribbon at the Metro Vancouver Regionals in Duet Acting. MARY and SANDY win a YELLOW ribbon at the Fraser Valley Regionals for Duet Acting. Bob and Joe can perform together, and can choose between the same piece as Regionals, or a new piece. Mary and Sandy can also perform together but must do the same piece as Regionals. However, Bob cannot perform with Sandy, nor can Joe and Mary, even though they all qualified in the same category.
EXCEPTION/WILD CARD: 1. The rules above do NOT apply to the TWO WILDCARD SLOTS awarded to every school. Each school has full control over: a. What student(s) are awarded the event spot and b. What piece the student(s) are allowed to perform 2. These students do NOT need to have competed at a Regional Festival, nor do they need to have won a ribbon at a previous festival. Short Film Category Pieces: 1. Short Film Events are also welcome to perform and they are not included in the wildcard performance count – Film categories are a direct entry qualifier for the PTF.
